Fox with mange

If you suspect you have observed a fox suffering from mange, please call us to discuss the issue. These situations involve a complex decision tree in the assessment of the fox’s condition and the prescribed course of action. For that reason, we ask that you call so we can work it through together. We may ask for some photos of the animal to assess the stage of disease progression.

Sarcoptic mange is a parasite that will debilitate its host, often to the point of great suffering and death. Prognoses are positive if treatment starts early enough.

Fox shortly after admission with advanced mange.

Foxes in later stages of recovery, about two weeks out from release.
